The Difference Between You and Most People
You’re one in a million.
You do things your own way. Your way might not be the right way, but it’s your way. In the end you can say “I did it my way.” People will respect that.
When you see them in hell!
You’re an iconoclast. You march to the beat of a different drummer. You think outside the bun.
Most people wouldn’t devote one room of their apartment to keeping a variety of exotic reptiles. Yeah, well, that doesn’t bother you. Most people think the moon landing happened.
Also, your definition of “This apartment smells horrible!” is different from most people.
See, the difference between you and most people is that most people wouldn’t be happy in a three-way relationship for the last five years. But you and Christy and Gerald are very happy, thank you very much. You’ve grown to love Gerald almost as much as Christy loves him. Most people wouldn’t be so magnanimously unmonogamous.
You’re different and that makes you unique. Most people would charge a fee for the Ghost-hunting Tours you offer nightly. Lord knows it’s a lot of work driving a bunch of whiney tourists around the city, having them constantly complain:
“I want to get out of the car!”
“Your car is full of garbage!”
“That wasn’t a ghost, it was an airplane!”
But you don’t do this for the money. You do it to raise awareness about ectoplasmic activity. Haunted Cincinnati isn’t a job. It’s a calling.
And you don’t care about what people think about how you dress!! Goddammit! Your clothes reflect your fiery spirit. You love to bowl and you love fire. Hence, bowling shirt with flames on it. And track pants with flames up the side.
Of course you own a lot of shirts and pants with dragons printed on them! You practice Okinawan-style Shorin-Ryu karate!
Also: the dragon is your spirit animal and you’ve known this since you were 10 and tried mescaline for the first time.
The point is you’ve been collecting dragon-themed clothing for years.
Yeah, most people wouldn’t dress like this. Most people think Obama is an American citizen!
Most people think 9-11 was an outside job!
Sometimes it’s hard to be you. It feels like the whole world is rooting against you. You know they’re talking about you. Let them talk. You’re blazing a new path. A path that incorporates paranormal research, martial arts, sexual experimentation, and a fervent love of Herpetology.
Most people wouldn’t dream of living a life like this one. You wouldn’t dream of living your life any other way. That’s the difference between you and most people.
